Over $245,000 has been generously donated to the Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association for critical patient centered programs, building awareness and advocating for Canadians with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS). Created and hosted by Montreal resident Michael Santillo, this gala unites community members, healthcare professionals, and patient advocates for an inspiring evening of entertainment and philanthropy.

Michael Santillo’s experience with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AxSpA/AS) not only highlights the challenges faced by millions worldwide but also showcases the power of community and determination in overcoming adversity. Based in Montreal, Michael is a busy Regional Human Resources Business Partner for The Brick.
His delayed diagnosis underscored the high cost of the public and healthcare professionals’ lack of awareness about AS. Rather than letting the diagnosis define him, Michael turned his experience into a platform for advocacy and support by creating “Let’s Get Loud for AS.” With unwavering determination, he set out to raise awareness about AS, educate others about the condition, and provide support for those navigating similar challenges. In the past three years, Michael has raised just over $245,000 for the Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association while shining a light on AS to help more Canadians get diagnosed sooner.

The Canadian Spondyloarthritis Association (CSA) is a national association created to support people living with Spondyloarthritis (SpA), including ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), enteropathic arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, and associated spondyloarthritis diseases.
A patient-led advocacy and education organization, we partner with patients, caregivers, and the broader medical community to connect fellow SpA patients with evidence-based information and resources throughout their whole-life health journey.
As vocal thought leaders and change agents, we are dedicated to making the patient journey better. We are actively working to eliminate the despair and frustration that comes with waiting years for a proper diagnosis. We are the only organization focused solely on Canadians living with Spondyloarthritis.
